For February’s color of the month I let my son decide which color to discuss on the blog, and to my surprise, he chose GOLD! At first I wasn’t too sure about it, but the more I thought it over the more excited I got. A little bit of gold goes a long way. Too much in any type of design and it can very quickly become gaudy or even tacky looking, but the right amount of gold can create a very luxurious, enchanting, and opulent effect.
Gold is associated with achievement, success, wealth, sophistication, elegance and well-being. We give gold metals to the best athletes, gold stars to the the brightest students, and we get “Gold Status” when we spend a lot of money at Starbucks. It is no wonder then that gold is seen as an uplifting and positive color. According to color-meaning.com , gold is also associated with enlightenment and heightened spirituality. Perhaps this is why enlightened beings are often depicted with gold halos around their heads in old paintings.
The following examples prove just how powerful this color can be. Gold has been making its way into all different areas of design. When implemented in appropriate ratios, this color can create a bold statement in anything from graphic art to living room decor.
Thank you so much for reading! Have a beautiful day. XO
